About Nippon Picks

Nippon Picks is an independent, Japan-based team. We compare Japanese products and travel services for visitors and overseas readers, and we try to answer one question per guide: which option actually fits your trip or your kitchen.

Why we are different

Most English guides to Japan are written by travelers who visited once, or by the companies selling the product. We are based in Japan and read the providers’ own Japanese-language pages, so the prices, plans, and terms we report come from the source, not from a summary of a summary. When a detail only exists in Japanese, we can still get it.

How we compare

• We cite our sources. Every price and spec is checked on the provider’s own page, with the date it was accurate, because these change often.
• We do not fabricate hands-on reviews. We compare on published specs, pricing, and cited third-party data. If we have not tested something, we do not pretend we have.
• We say what we cannot verify. When a provider does not publish a number, or a page is region-locked, we mark it as unconfirmed rather than guess.
• We name a weakness for every option. A comparison that only lists upsides is an ad, not a comparison.
